Do you have a disability or care for someone who does? Do you have a legal problem?

Your Story Disability Legal Support provides free and confdential legal support for people with disability and their families and carers across Australia.

We are a free national service. We are independent of the Disability Royal Commission.

About the Disability Royal Commission

The Disability Royal Commission was an opportunity for people with disability to share their stories and ideas for change.

Supporters such as family members, friends, carers, and advocates have also shared their experiences.

Submissions to the Disability Royal Commission closed on 31 December 2022.

The final report was delivered by the Royal Commission on 29 September 2023.

How can we help?

We can give you legal advice if you have a question about the Disability Royal Commission or if you have made a submission.

We can support you with legal problems you might be dealing with, such as the NDIS, discrimination, guardianship, or family violence.

Our caseworkers can give you social support, such as assisting you to get NDIS, housing or victims support, or providing advocacy with services or referrals.

We can also connect you with other support services, including free advocacy and counselling.

If we can’t help you solve your legal or non-legal problem, we will try to connect you with someone who can.

You can contact us by phone at 1800 77 1800 (free call), or by webchat, email, or online form via our website at yourstorydisabilitylegal.org.au

If you are an Aboriginal and/or a Torres Strait Islander person, we may be able to connect you with a lawyer from a communitycontrolled Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Legal Service.

If you need an interpreter, including Auslan, we can arrange one for you for free. Tell us your language and we will organise it for you. You can also call the free Translating and Interpreting Service on 131 450.

If you are deaf and/or find it hard to hear or speak with people who use a phone, you can use the National Relay Service to contact us. Call 133 677, TTY 02 9219 5126, or visit nrschat.nrscall.gov.au.
