Bonina, Western Australia Aboriginal Legal Service lawyer

Amelia

I am passionate about social justice and disability rights, and am excited to join the Your Story team.

I am originally from Perth but have spent the last two years studying a Master’s in Human Rights at the University of Oslo in Norway (UiO). My thesis considered the question of constitutional recognition of First Nations peoples from the perspectives of international law and multinational federalism.

While in Norway I worked part-time as a research assistant at UiO and had the opportunity to help with the editing and publication of a multi-authored book volume on disability social rights (Edward Elgar).

Before moving to Norway, I worked as the Associate to the Honourable Justice Banks-Smith at the Supreme Court of Western Australia.

Aside from work and study, I am passionate about mental health, mindfulness and yoga, and in 2018 I completed yoga teacher training in Rishikesh, India.
