Caring for carers: How to manage compassion fatigue

Working in a helping profession can be very rewarding and meaningful.

But there are often times when carers, support workers and others in helping professions come across pain and suffering, which can leave them feeling drained and lacking emotional and/or physical energy.

On Tuesday 30 August, carers and professionals in the ACT are invited to attend a free information session on dealing with ‘compassion fatigue’.

Hosted by Relationships Australia Canberra & Region and Your Story Disability Legal Support, the session will be held at the Legal Aid ACT office in Canberra from 12pm to 1pm.

It will cover:

  • What is compassion fatigue?
  • How can it be identified?
  • What can be done to manage compassion fatigue?

Participants will also have a chance to find out about the Disability Royal Commission and the opportunity to access free support to share their stories and ideas for making Australia safer and more inclusive of people with disability.

Light refreshments will be provided and participants are required to wear a mask.
