The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) aims to provide Australians living with disability with the supports they need to live a full and fulfilling life.
But navigating the NDIS can be challenging for both people with disability and their supporters.
On Monday 30 May, join Your Story Disability Legal Support and the Legal Aid NSW NDIS team for a webinar for people dealing with the NDIS, including community workers and other supporters.
The NDIS team provides legal services to NDIS participants and prospective participants about their rights and what they can get from the NDIS.
The webinar will cover:
- Introduction to the access criteria
- Reasonable and necessary supports: What this means and what the NDIS will and will not fund
- Preparing for scheduled plan reviews
- When and how the National Disability Insurance Agency must make decisions, and what to do when you don’t agree with a decision
- NDIS matters in the Administrative Appeals Tribunal: Tips to help prepare your case
You will also learn about Your Story’s free legal support and how you can safely share your NDIS experiences with the Disability Royal Commission, or support someone else to.
The free online event will include Auslan interpreters and live captions. You can join using Zoom or Facebook.
Date and time: Monday 30 May from 11am—12pm AEST
Location: Online (please register to receive a link)
Cost: Free to attend

Legal Aid New South Wales NDIS team
The Legal Aid NSW NDIS team provides legal services to participants and prospective participants about their rights and what they can get from the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). Our areas of practice include challenging decisions about becoming a participant in the NDIS, what can be funded in an NDIS plan, or if there is not enough funding for disability supports and services. We provide advice and referrals at any stage of an NDIS review and can represent clients in the Administrative Appeals Tribunal. We also contribute to law reform and public interest litigation that seeks to enhance the administration of the NDIS.
Your Story Disability Legal Support
Your Story Disability Legal Support is a national service that gives free information and legal advice about taking part in the Disability Royal Commission. We are independent and separate from the Royal Commission. Our priority is to support and empower people with disability, as well as their family, friends, carers, advocates and supporters, to safely share their story and connect with support services. Our staff work in partnership with communities to provide a person centred, trauma-informed and culturally safe service.
